Produced by Brian Wilson, the album was recorded to coincide with the band's 50th anniversary tour, and is the band's first studio album since Stars and Stripes, Vol. 1 (1996) . It made its Billboard chart debut at #3, making the album their highest charting since 1965. The album is the first to feature original material since Summer in Paradise (1992).     Late career reunions usually mean sold out arenas, renewed interest in a bygone era and, most of the time, a sub par album that even die hard fans shelve away after the first, obligatory listen.

    That’s simply not the case with That’s Why God Made The Radio. A grab bag combination of early Beach Boys beach fluff and late period Brian Wilson introspection, the album is both lyrically adept and musically on point. It’s brief, like every good summer.

    If it is to be a final statement, take it as seriously credible one. Those harmonies still kick ass.
