Immolation is a death metal band from Yonkers, New York. They were formed in 1986 as Rigor Mortis. The name was changed to Immolation in late 1987, between the "Warriors of Doom" demo which was done as Rigor Mortis and "Demo I" which was done as Immolation. The band recorded 4 songs on the "Demo II" 1989 sessions, but only 3 were finally released: "Internal decadence", "Burial Ground" and "Despondent Souls". The remaining song is "Infectious Blood" (later re-named "Fall in Disease" on the "Dawn of Possession" Album). Read more on Last.fm

Great album with brutal riffs. Immolation in its purest form.
It takes a couple of listens for ‘Majesty and Decay’ to NOT sound like a complete mess, honestly. But, after spinning it through headphones and paying attention, I heard what Immolation is actually doing (albeit at breakneck speed) through the barrage of double-kick. These dudes have been around for a quarter of a century, but they’re still making interesting death metal. Young’ns: take note.
