The first explosions record I came upon. I cant drive and listen to this album because my mind will begin to wander off. I suggest listening to this record alone for the first time.
I once put this record on as ambiance for a silent self-reflective writing activity, and when I returned to the room to announce that time was up, not an eye of the 20+ pairs in the house was dry. I dare you to find as emotive a record, especially one without vocals of any kind. It finds places in you that you didn’t even know were there.
Still one of my favorite albums of all time.
“The Earth…” is the quintessential post-rock record. It’s ambient and spacey, but actually follows melody lines.
