The Oncoming Storm is the second studio album by American metalcore band, Unearth. It was released on June 29, 2004, through Metal Blade Records. The album was produced by Killswitch Engage guitarist Adam Dutkiewicz, and was their first major release through Metal Blade Records. This was also their first album with drummer Mike Justian and bassist John "Slo" Maggard, replacing Mike Rudberg and Chris "Rover" Rybicki respectively. Read more on Last.fm.

    While Unearth is apparently trying to to become the most regrettably redundant band ever right now, they were front runners before ‘metalcore’ became an insult. Breakdowns and melodic guitar solos did, at one time, go well together, and “The Oncoming Storm” is a great example. Sure, it’s a bit silly and plays like a grab-bag of interchangeable riffs and breakdowns at times, but it’s really fun to listen to.

    You could also go straight to “Bloodlust of the Human Condition” and just hang out on that track as well. 🙂
