Beaucoup Fish is the fifth album by Underworld, released in 1999. Recorded in 1997-'98 it was supposed to be released in 1998 (They still went ahead with their 1998-'99 tour) but due to delays it wasn't release until early 1999, consequently the packaging incorrectly lists 1998 as the release year. Following the huge success of the single "Born Slippy .NUXX" from its use in the film, Trainspotting in 1996, Beaucoup Fish was Underworld's most anticipated release. It spawned several successful singles, including "Push Upstairs", "Jumbo" and "Moaner", which was previously used in the film "Batman & Robin" and released as Read more on Last.fm.
Hard to rate this album without comparing it to other Underworld offerings. And though it offers up probably one of my favorite Underworld tracks, Cups, some of the other songs are just…ok. And unlike dubnobasswithmyhead, there isn’t that sense of true groundbreaking music being made – great music, but not quite groundbreaking. A definite must own!
