Underoath (occasionally typeset as underOATH or UNDERØATH) are an American band originally formed on November 30, 1997 in Ocala, Florida, but later relocated to Tampa, Florida, which was home to some of their newer members.
During the band's early years, when they were fronted by former vocalist Dallas Taylor, Underoath displayed a heavier style than their later, more well-known work, incorporating disparate influences from death and black metal. Read more on Last.fm
Look, dude, to each his own, but I hate every single last thing about this album (and the surrounding subculture that ensued).
Call me a prick. I never could get into Underoath. The legion of fans telling me they were the greatest thing since sliced bread didn’t help. To me, the whole chaos/hardcore thing only works if you’re an amazing musician. And while I’m sure EVERYBODY and their mother will disagree, I just don’t think Underoath can cut it. The album is a step above Emmure….that’s why it grabs only 2 stars.
