After 2010’s blues workout, Mojo, Tom Petty and The Heart Breakers seemed destined to spend their twilight hour going back to their teenage roots, tapping the Robert Johnson vein for all it was worth. Their bruising, hook laden return to form, Hypnotic Eye, is a fiery reminder of the Damn The Torpedoes era Heartbreakers sound, albeit with a less polished, fuzzed out garage rock energy.
