Thrice is an American rock band that formed in Irvine, California in 1998. The lineup consists of Dustin Kensrue (vocals and guitar), Teppei Teranishi (guitar, keys), Eddie Breckenridge (bass), and Riley Breckenridge (drums). In 2000, Thrice signed with Sub City Records and released two LP's. The first, Identity Crisis (2000), only received 1.5 stars in the AMG review and little buzz. If ‘Vheissu’ was a step in the right direction for Thrice, this first installment of ‘The Alchemy Index’ was a skydive from the right plane. This record is somehow heavy without being redundant and melodic without being boring; it’s well-written, yet Herculean. Pay no mind to early Thrice releases if they cause you to hesitate (I could say the same for recent ones, too)—give every track on this album a listen.
