No. 4 is the fourth album released by Stone Temple Pilots, on October 26, 1999, by Atlantic Records. The album combined elements of heavy metal, psychedelic rock, and alternative rock. No. 4 achieved platinum status, despite the lack of promotion due to singer Scott Weiland's one-year jail sentence in September 1999, shortly before the album's release. Stone Temple Pilots (also known by STP) is an American alternative rock band from San Diego, California, that originally consisted of Scott Weiland (lead vocals), brothers Dean (guitar) and Robert DeLeo (bass, backing vocals), and Eric Kretz (drums). The band's lineup remained unchanged from its formation in 1989 until the firing of Weiland in February 2013.
