"Pure Phase" was the second album to be released by Spiritualized, released in 1995, and credited as "Spiritualized Electric Mainline" (Jason Pierce stated at the time that Spiritualized were actually called "Spiritualized Lazer Guided Melodies", so titled after their debut, and nearly called them "Spiritualized Rocket Shaped Songs" for their next album, but soon rejected the latter idea) Again, the album saw a fluctuating lineup, with the band reduced to a core trio of Jason Pierce, Kate Radley and Sean Cook.
