The stops along the way to the roots of ‘grind’ are often The Red Chord, Pig Destroyer, Daughters, and the like. Before (or after) you go all the way back to that accidental genre-sparking Napalm Death album, ‘Phantom Limb’ is like that BBQ stand in the desert that’s worth driving 80 miles out of the way for. Standouts like the title track and ‘Heathen Temple’ are full-on musical massacres of the most enjoyable kind.
