Fear, Emptiness, Despair is the fifth album by British grindcore band Napalm Death, released in 1994. Originally titled Under Rule, this record is notable for its extensive use of midpaced songs and elaborate music structures, similar to previous albums such as Utopia Banished (1992) and Harmony Corruption (1990). The inclusion of Napalm Death's "Twist the Knife (Slowly)" in the Mortal Kombat soundtrack brought the band further acclaim. The soundtrack scored a Top 10 position in the Billboard 200 chart, and went platinum in less than a year.
