I is the one-song-EP which runs for 21 minutes. Meshuggah followed up I with Catch Thirty-Three which is also a single song (this time clocking in at over 45 minutes) but separated into 13 different tracks. The song can be split into three definite sections, each representing a different style of Meshuggah’s past playing. The use of breakdowns separates the song into heavier and less heavy parts. By using this method the song can change style very often. Read more on Last.fm.
I dig the heck out of this album/EP/song, but it’s not their best work. The song structure isn’t as logical as usual Meshuggah and the flow suffers a bit for it. They’re so talented musically that you can’t really go wrong with anything in their catalog, and this one is certainly worth a listen.
