Masaki Batoh (馬頭將噐), who performs solely under his romaji name, is a singer-songwriter, composer, multi-instrumentalist and instrument maker from Japan. His music includes different genres: folk, world, celtic, medieval, new age, classical, experimental, noise and ambient.
Just like his songs, Masaki is bilingual (Japanese-English) and is also the founding member, singer and guitarist of the psychedelic group Ghost. He does both improvised music and compositions. Read more on Last.fm
As a child of wonderment and a lifelong learner, I was obligated to give this a listen. Knowing that its sounds are actual projections of the human brain, it becomes a captivating and unsettling listen, full of strange noises whose symbolic manifestations reflect things for which we (thankfully) are unable to create words. I’m almost positive I’ll never listen to this again, but I’m thrilled in principle that it exists and that I bore witness.
