If there’s one artist, outside of Lucinda Williams, who has transcended every label applied, it would be Mary Chapin Carpenter. Time, Sex, Love was her post fame purge, a collection of songs about moving forward, whatever the weather. She’s indignant sometimes, self satisfied at others. It’s like a feminist Imagine, one little woman calmly talking the world off a ledge, while secretly feeling the urge to jump herself.
