Far Away In Time is a compilation album from Virgin Records Ltd on CD 1987 and was re-released in 1993 in the Caroline/Blue Plate Series. The compilation draws from three original albums Metro Music, Trance and Dance and This is the Ice Age. The compilation was done without input from Martha Johnson and Mark Gane the two songwriters the first claiming that it has "an uneven overview of the first two albums while barely acknowledging 'This Is The Ice Age'. Martha and the Muffins were a Canadian new wave synth pop band in the 1970s and 1980s.
The group's initial line-up came together in Toronto in 1977, when David Millar asked his fellow Ontario College of Art student Mark Gane to help him start a band. Millar recruited Martha Johnson to play keyboards; Johnson brought in a friend from high school, Carl Finkle, to play bass; and Gane's brother Tim Gane signed on as the drummer.
