This album finds Little Claw further developing their sound. It includes some of their most melodic work, something of a country-western sound occasionally, some very long, noisy jams, and some very unusual guitar. Little Claw was born in Detroit, Michigan during the Great Eastern Seaboard blackout of 2003…having nothing to do, nowhere to go, the band played a string of shows, starting with their debut performance
with legendary Ohio art-punks the Bizarros, which then led to the recording of the first Little Claw LP. The album was released by Ypsilanti records in 2005. A second LP was recorded mid-2006 and was subsequently released by Thurston Moore's Ecstatic Peace label in 2007. Read more on Last.fm
More noise than garage rock and punk-er in approach than sound, it’s easy to see why Little Claw’s “Human Taste” appeared as a joint release between Not Not Fun and Ecstatic Peace: it pretty perfectly toes the line between the relatively more restrained heady noise of the former and the raucous garage noise of the latter. The good news is that their approach sets them apart from many other bands in the lo-fi camp, the bad news is that you’re more likely to remember the approach than any of the songs here.
