I didn’t “get” Kylesa, and then for two albums we were on a total wavelength, and now our roads have once again diverged. Something about it feels decidedly amateur for such a road-tested outfit. I grooved with “Grounded” and “Vulture’s Landing” pretty hard, but I’m not stoked to put the proverbial needle back at the edge anytime soon. Still gets three stars, because I’ll bet some of this stuff only makes sense live.
