  1. gives it a: 4/5

This Atlanta-meets-Brooklyn beast of an album makes me hopeful that Killer Mike is leading this subset of hip-hop in the right direction. Throwback style with modern production backs up pointed, (mostly) thoughtful lyrics in a combo that begs for repeat spins.

Hardcore. Aggressive. Unrelenting. These words describe Killer Mike’s newest release to a T. Coming on the heels of last year’s Pl3dge, R.A.P. Music picks up where the latter left off. Mike discusses political discourse from his view on the porch. Gone are the club hit and womanizing records. They’re replaced with tracks taking aim at Ronald Reagan, the influence of gangs how rap music gives Mike a religious movement. From beginning to end, El-P does damage behind the boards but the spotlight is on Killer Mike…as it should be.

In my mind, it’s an instant classic.

Really enjoyed this album. the flow is fast and aggressive and never leaves you bored. El-P’s involvement really sold me on this and tied the whole album together.
