Although this work carries the words "Original Cast Recording" it never supported a stage work or film. (Although subsequently staged in 2003 by a non-Zappa cast). Originally conceived by Zappa as a Broadway musical the concept was first revealed, over numerous pictorial spreads, in 'Hustler' magazine in April '84 - the vinyl box-set following some 6 months later. The satire and parody in the work is broadly based around Afro-American stereotypes, culled from the 'Kingfish' of the TV show "Amos 'n' Andy".
