I have a list of my all time favorite records tucked away in a yearbook somewhere. It’s got upwards of a 100 or so albums that meant something to me growing up. There’s some Sublime, some Metallica, some Blink 182 and some Hank Williams. The list is long. One record I bought in tenth grade is in my top ten, higher than The Stones Exile On Mainstreet, higher than Slayers Reign In Blood. It’s a perfect album by a pretty standard college rock outfit.
The band is Eve 6 and the album is It’s All In Your Head, probably one of the great underrated albums of all time. Max Collins is a brilliant lyricist, routinely combining college angst and teen sexuality in a blender with suicidal rage. Musically, the guys just kick ass, catchy, hard boiled punky pop rock played with polish and detail. The result is a record that has given me much to talk about musically when people ask for a rare/random fave.
This album was the soundtrack to my life in early high school. I reccomend.
