Instrumentally, the girls have never sounded better. But it’s hard not to want Natalie Maines there to lead in voice. Still, the song craft is solid, reminiscent of Ani Defranco here and Janis Ian there. It’s not going to change the game (how could it?), but they’re trying. I’ll give them that. They need to work on their overall sound, incorporate some new ideas where appropriate.
