Debut’s don’t come more killer, no filler than 2nd Stage. This is one of those peak moments that basically began a collection of matching peak moments. Coheed’s debut begins the complicated story frontman Claudio Sanchez created back in 1999 with a fresh, rawly produced bang. The genre here is hard to define, prog pop rock with hints of metal and emo thrown in. There’s not much bad to be said for 2nd Stage. It holds up after a decade of existence. Hell, I just saw them perform it live from beginning to end and it still kicks ass.
