No World For Tomorrow is the Empire Strikes Back of Coheeds collection, a crucial point in the story Claudio Sanchez had been building for years as well as an interesting interval in the sound of Coheed, marking the most potent mixture of their prog development, pop rock roots and recently aquired metal edge. The album eschews hookless jamming for more catchy fare. Still, the technicality and time signatures still impress, still ebb and flow. If anything, following a masterpiece like In The Eyes Of Madness meant redefining that album’s sound by elevating the Rush esq cadence and listening to even more 70’s rock radio. Good stuff.
