Evisceration Plague is the eleventh album by the American death metal band Cannibal Corpse, released on February 3, 2009. The album was produced at Mana Recording Studios by Hate Eternal guitarist Erik Rutan. Bassist Alex Webster said about the record: "In Cannibal Corpse, our goal has always been to try and make each new album we record our heaviest. That goal was a bit more challenging this time since we were extremely satisfied with our last album Kill, but we knew that by working with producer Erik Rutan at Mana Recording Studios again, we would be able to start at Read more on Last.fm.
Sometime in the late 90’s, Cannibal Corpse added technical proficiency to their very narrow sound. The new combo served them well, appealing to the metal purist crowds, longtime fans and the odd jazz enthusiast (Steve Rowls 2003 article in Bitches Brew). Their early 2000’s record cycle was particularly well put together. 2006’s KILL was a fully realized effort. But nothing prepared fans for Evisceration Plague.
The bands 2009 stunner was a nuclear bomb of thrash oriented death metal. The tones were clear, powerful and the guitars were well stacked, helping to solidify the groups more professional sound quality. The technicality of Pauls drumming was at its absolute zenith. Lyrically it might be the bands tamest record, going for a more evil approach than the usual ultra disgusting fare. Elsewhere George Fishers vocals were at their typical best, heavy and yet somehow very clear and concise.
All in all, this was probably CC’s Master Of Puppets or Slayers Reign In Blood.
