While critics labeled them carbon copies of Nirvana, Bush were actually a pretty distinctive band out of the gate. Their sound was more produced, their riffs more muscle controlled. Whether or not they get any commendations for originality isn’t really important. Sixteen Stone was a terrific debut, loud and hook laden. Their other big influence, The Pixies, was more evident than Nirvana as Gavin Rossdales guitar parts followed a very Frank Black esq. cadence. This is a great example of the grunge movement shifting as time went on………into modern rock.
