This is the first heavy record I ever described as “beautiful.” It’s a work of art.
I could never say enough about this record, so I won’t (unless you happen to see me at a bar). Instead, I’ll say this: if you can find heavy music even mildly palatable, you owe it to yourself to hear ‘Alaska’. At the very least, listen to the two distinct apexes: “Selkies: The Endless Obsession” and “Autodidact”.
This is BTBAM’s peak record, a social explosion of metal and hardcore styles, progressive structure and geek appeal. If you like metal, you’ll like this album. If you like Miles Davis Bitches Brew, you’ll like this album. If you like the sound of industrial machinery…..you’ll like this music. IF YOU LIKE MUSIC…..you’ll like this music,,,,,unless you have no taste in it!
