Ben Kweller is a singer-songwriter playing a mix of indie rock and power pop influenced songs that was born in San Francisco, CA in 1981, being a part of the group The Bens as well as having a critically praised solo career. In 1982, his family relocated to Emory, TX; his father, Howard Kweller, became the town's first doctor. In 1986, the Kwellers moved to the much larger city of Greenville, TX. This album was just okay in my book. Albeit a typical Ben Kweller album is always a good buy/ listen especially for a lounging-around day.
‘Go Fly a Kite’ is standard-issue Ben Kweller, but that makes it pretty darn good. His quirky style just works, and I’ve always been a fan of the odd guitar parts and ‘solos’, such as on the opening track. Kweller’s embedded ‘indie pop’ is infectious; let’s just admit he’s going to be around for a while, making good-to-great albums.
