As much as I love BTA, ‘The Physics of Fire’ comes across fairly awkward. The melodic metal component feels forced—namely, the vocals. Even the guitar solos, being great in isolation, don’t seem to fit the mood. Overall, it’s still a fairly enjoyable record, but it definitely wouldn’t serve as a good introduction to BTA.
