A Perfect Murder was formed in 2001 in Montreal, Quebec Canada by Carl Bouchard. Their first EP, Blood Covered Words, was released the same year. In 2003, before the release of the band's first full length album, Bouchard decided to switch from vocals to lead guitar. Vocalist Frank Pellerin took over for Bouchard on 2003's Cease to Suffer. Later that year, the band signed with Victory Records. Still under contract to Cyclop Records, the band released the EP Rehearsal to fulfill their contract obligation. Read more on Last.fm
When I was 18, I was all, “Hey, these dudes are trying to sound like Pantera!” But now I’m all, “Hey, these dudes are trying to sound like Pantera …” Points awarded on the “riffs are riffs” thesis, but points dutifully subtracted on the “rips are rips” one. Also, you can’t stay stoked on this album for its duration like you could with one of (the truly inimitable) Dime’s.
There’s not a lot that needs to be said about A Perfect Murders War Of Aggression other than that it’s a 5 star, balls to the wall metal landmark. This is for fans of Pantera, Superjoint Ritual and…hey…maybe Helmet too.
