This is the best thing I heard from 2011. The tone of Pelican, the momentum of Mono, and the ambience of Godspeed You! Black Emperor keeps me coming back to this album casually and intentionally in different times. The ability of an album to suit multiple environments and purposes is hard to come by, and this one nails it on the head. In another totally expected move, Pitchfork bombed the review (http://pitchfork.com/reviews/albums/14197-the-fear-is-excruciating-but-therein-lies-the-answer), further reminding me to turn a deaf ear to music blogs.
