Standout Tracks: The Nature, Listen, Hostile Gospel.
Eardrum blew me away, I have always been a casual fan of Kweli but this album had me hooked. The beats are simple, clean, and classic. The flow and lyricism of this album is ridiculous, Kweli effortlessly tackles every track in a cool, collected manner in the way that only a talented veteran can. All of that makes this a great album before even mentioning the star studded featured artists including, Justin Timberlake, UGK, Kanye West, and Musiq Soulchild. The majority of the album has the laid back style typical of Kweli but occasionally he will surprise you with tracks like “Go With Us” which are far more energetic. If you’re a fan of the more underground side of rap this is a must have album.
