Thrill Seeker is the debut full-length album by American melodic metalcore band August Burns Red. The first released video was for the song Your Little Suburbia Is In Ruins. Thrill Seeker is the only album to feature bassist Jordan Tuscan and vocalist Josh McManness, they both would later depart from the band the following year with Dustin Davidson and Jake Luhrs taking their positions respectively. August Burns Red is a band from Manheim, Pennsylvania. Formed in 2003, the group began their first performances while a majority of the members were attending their senior year of high school, and soon began playing shows around Lancaster, before being signed to CI Records, and afterward, Solid State Records (SST). The group is primarily known for their heavy breakdowns, highly melodic guitar riffs and odd-meter riffs. They state Between the Buried and Me, Misery Signals and Hopesfall as their main influences. This Album really shows off the all around musical talents of ABR. The switches and transitions they do are complicated to the non musically inclined. Which could make this CD very appealing to a large number of people.
August Burns Red is one of those bands who have become something I dislike so much that it’s hard to admit that I loved them ‘when they first came out’ (heard that before?). So much was right with the songwriting and execution on this album that you can look past the overproduction. My complaint is that, like many, many other hardcore albums, this should have been an EP; the last half drags a bit and you’re likely to miss some great parts.
