This record wrapped itself around me like a warm coat in the dead of winter. Then it made me think harder than I have in quite awhile. It’s a big melting pot of heart break, religious anxiety and drug dependence. It sounds like a whiskey bent choir melted down to one mocking bird voice and laced with the kind of strummed acoustic warmth that makes drinkers go cold turkey. This is a record to heave worship upon and to revel in. This is an album where the beauty of music is rediscovered every time a new song begins. And from acoustic stomps to bluegrass tinged love songs, and onto Rocco Deluca embedded guitar jams, this record will blow you away like a southern breeze. Don’t miss out on Joshua James. He’s the heir apparent to Bob Dylan….except he’s a f**king incredible singer.
