The Ascent of Everest formed in the spring of 2005 in the shadows of Music City USA (Nashville, Tennessee). Since then the band has worked tirelessly touring and playing regional shows in support of their 2006 release "How Lonely Sits the City" (the re-master of which was released June 30, 2008 by the SHELSMUSIC label). In 2009 the band released a split CD\LP with We All Inherit the Moon. Their second full length album "From This Vantage" was released June 1st 2010 through Shelsmusic (CD) and Future Recordings (VINYL). Read more on Last.fm
Although ‘How Lonely Sites the City’ (their debut) was great in its own right, repeating the same formula for ‘From This Vantage’ would have come across annoyingly bland. Instead, The Ascent of Everest takes the best of their prior work (epic crescendos, lots of strings) and molds it into slightly more structured, shorter songs. The result is a post-rock record that needn’t be listened to passively—at least the first time.
