Hordes of Chaos is Kreator's twelfth studio album. Recorded between July / August 2008 at the Titonus Studios, Germany, produced by Moses Schneider and initially released on the 13th of January 2009 under the Steamhammer label. The album was recorded on 4-track analog tape in a live studio with no overdubs, the first time the band had recorded an album this way since the Pleasure to Kill album in 1986.
