Periphery

Periphery then entered the studio to work on their next two full-length releases to record reworked "Bulb" demos as well as completely new material written by the full band. The upcoming releases would also be the first to feature the use of string arrangements and orchestral elements. The album was to be produced by Misha and Adam "Nolly" Getgood (of British progressive metal band Red Seas Fire) and engineered and mixed by Taylor Larson (Sky Eats Airplane, Of Legends, Life on Repeat).     We officially have Djent’s “They’re Only Chasing Safety”.

    While “Periphery II” absolutely has some great moments, they’re buried in a heap of hopeful accessibility. The vocals have bothered me a bit in previous efforts, but never to this level. I find the whole thing generally uninteresting. “Angry Metal Guy” says it even better:

    “What’s to be excited about? If it’s great guitar work and sterile production you’re after? Check out Digital Veil from The Human Abstract. Like great chug and crazy polyrhythmic times?
